The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a broad range of HR-related responsibilities in the following areas: payroll and benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, recruitment/employment, enforcing policies and practices, and employment law compliance. Expected to have an overall, up to date and well-versed knowledge of all human resource functions and legalities (pertaining to the Construction Industry).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for timely, accurately and compliantly processing the Company’s weekly payroll.
    • Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data to include garnishments, vacation time, sick time, travel time, per diem requests, bonuses, insurance, 401(k) deductions, etc.
    • Reviews online time entry and electronic time clock (ExakTime) entries daily/weekly for completeness and accuracy and contacts various divisional supervisors for missed time and inaccurate time entries for salaried and hourly employees (to include paid leave and holiday entries).
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws and best practices.
    • Electronically submits reviewed, accurate payroll weekly to payroll company and emails employee paystubs.
  • Oversight and weekly printing of Company Certified Payrolls for projects, to include facilitating any changes, setting up wage scales in the accounting program, and emailing LCP Tracker reports to PMA’s.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Company and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health/dental/vision, supplemental insurances, and retirement plan providers, etc.
  • Handles and assists in Employee New Hires to include Job Postings, Assist in Interview Process, Onboarding, Reference Checking, Orientation, Required Document Collection, Eligibility & Enrollments, E-Verify, VA New Hire, Background Checks, etc.
  • Handles and assists in Employee Disciplinary Issues and Terminations to include Ensuring proper warnings and write-ups occur and are documented, attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, collection of Company property and equipment, completion of separation reporting, and track and administer the steps needed to comply with COBRA law and appropriately deliver continuation of employee benefits.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes. Responds to benefits inquiries on plan provisions, benefits enrollments and status changes. Enroll employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responsible for effectively interpreting and handling employee FMLA, Reasonable Accommodations, Investigations, Employment Verifications, and Unemployment Claims.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, and employment law. Participates in webinars/seminars to maintain knowledge of HR/Payroll practices as needed.
  • Maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  • Oversight of the in-house Apprenticeship Program for Roofing and Glazing.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, as needed.
  • Assists in the annual performance evaluation process.
  • Planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide HR/Payroll related meetings, etc.
  • Responsible for all required HR/Payroll audits and reporting: ACA, W2, 401K, Workers Comp, Unemployment, I9, EEO1, Vets4212, etc., and ensuring required forms, and posters are up to date and maintained accurately.
  • Assist with brokers to conduct annual benefits review. Conduct research, analyzes plan options, conducts cost analysis and makes recommendations to Executive Staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality of company and employee information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
  • Professionally certified in Human Resource Management (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in human resources and payroll systems/related software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of human resource laws and regulations.

This full time, on-site, field Commercial Roofing Site Superintendent position is responsible for daily operational accountability, to plan, direct, coordinate, and execute assigned projects to achieve expectations of excellence, efficiency, and accountability related to safety, quality, budget, production, and customer service.   • Maintain the project construction schedule.
  • Attend all Owner/GC and subcontractor coordination and preconstruction meetings.
  • Receive, review, document the resolution to all project specific issues.
  • Responsible for making sure all materials required to complete scope are inspected and available on site in a timely manner for installation.
  • Field verify and provide necessary shop drawings for sheet metal fabrication.
  • Assist the Project Manager in implementation and coordination of on-site quality control. Hold onsite scope/QC meetings with foreman, crews and/or subs prior to beginning each definable feature of work to ensure all are clear on installation/execution/quality expectations of scope.
  • Drive the importance of a safety-first mindset to everyone touching the project. Hold crews, and/or subcontractors, etc. accountable for all daily safety requirements – daily safety huddles, toolbox talks, PPE, safety notifications/reports/documentation, etc. to ensure jobsite and company as a whole complies at all times with standards, rules and regulations issued under OSHA.
  • Prepare Daily Reports each day to make sure no issues are overlooked, and that jobsite is running as it should.
  • Ensure DAILY that all jobsites are left in weather-tight condition.
  • Provide daily progress photos of the safety, roof installation and nightly tie in.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects at varying stages within a lifecycle, if necessary.
  • Manage a small team of employees, providing oversight, direction, and mentoring in accordance to company policies and procedures.

The Project Manager’s responsibility includes managing storefront, curtainwall, and glazing construction projects located throughout the Hampton Roads area and Mid-Atlantic region.   • Receive, review, document, and administrate the resolution to all project specific issues.
  • Assist the foreman in implementation and coordination of on-site quality control and safety procedures.
  • Receive, review, and process all Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) forms.
  • Prepare, distribute, and acquire approval of all Change Order Requests.
  • Prepare and distribute all Change Orders and associated budget revisions.

  • Oversight of all project administrative logs and close-out activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervising and working alongside a glazing project and crew in the field while ensuring safety, accuracy, and productivity of installation of various commercial glazing systems.
  • ‪Successful fabrication and installation experience with storefront, curtain walls, entrances, and hardware.
  • Participate in the work on projects daily, while ensuring and maintaining productivity.
  • Ensure that quality standards of workmanship are being followed.
  • Read and interpret plans / shop drawings.
  • Determine plumb of walls or ceilings, using plumb lines and levels.
  • Accurately layout and measure openings.
  • Fabricate/install metal for glass installation, using aluminum or steel framing.
  • Operate cranes or hoists with suction cups to lift large, heavy pieces of glass.
  • Determining a project’s needs in collaboration with the general contractor and various subs/trades and attend/participate in any project meetings as mandated by the contract.

  • Accepting and QC’ing material/equipment deliveries to the jobsite – Inspect all incoming deliveries closely for damage, quantities, and quality.

 POSITION SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of industry experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Able to travel / work Monday thru Friday.
  • Must own industry appropriate tools.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of means and methods and a thorough understanding of industry practices.
  • Blueprint Reading.
  • Knowledge of Building Code and OSHA Safety practices.
  • Certifications (Preferred: Forklift certified, Fall Protection, Scaffold / Swing Stage, OSHA 10 hour, CPR certified, Certifications from any of the storefront/curtain wall manufacturers)

The Glazier Helper/Skilled Laborer will assist Glaziers/Foreman in the field with all general purpose work on and off site, as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for full project ownership including, but not limited to:

  • Will be working with different types of commercial glass installation from mirrors, aluminum windows, aluminum doors, storefronts, curtainwall, glass, hardware, etc. on multiple job sites across Hampton Roads.
  • Cleaning and preparing the work area or job site as needed or instructed.
  • Loading, offloading, and delivering of materials being utilized at the work site.
  • Handling material glass.
  • Follow instructions from the Foreman.
  • Assist Glaziers as needed.
