The LC-RAC 3 Fall Hazards Project focused on improving rooftop safety across multiple naval facilities by installing comprehensive guardrail systems to protect maintenance personnel. Prior to this effort, workers performing routine service on rooftop equipment were exposed to significant, potentially life-threatening fall hazards due to unprotected roof edges, ladder access points, and roof hatches. The project was initiated to eliminate these risks and ensure compliance with established safety standards while maintaining uninterrupted facility operations.
The scope of work included the installation of engineered guardrail systems around five separate buildings, strategically designed to provide continuous fall protection along roof perimeters and at critical access points. Additional safety rails were installed at ladder access locations and around roof hatches to create secure transition areas for personnel entering and exiting the roof. As a result of this project, maintenance staff can now safely access and service rooftop equipment with greatly reduced risk, significantly enhancing overall workplace safety across the affected naval facilities.
